We understand that choosing and booking the right accommodation for your visit is one of the most important points of your holiday. To make life easier, all the accommodation featured in this Guide has been inspected and passed by one or more national or local schemes, giving you the assurance of quality and peace of mind. The inspecting agency logo appears at the top of each advertisement.

The AA and English Tourism Council use a simple 1-5 star/ pennant system.

Hotels, Guest Accommodation, which includes B&B's, Guesthouses, Farmhouses and Inns are given a rating of from one to five stars, the more stars the higher the quality and the greater the range of facilities and level of services provided.

Look out for the English Tourism Council's Gold and Silver Awards which are given to those establishments which not only achieve the overall quality required from their rating, but also reach the highest levels of quality in those specific areas which guests identify as being really important for them.

Self-Catering, such as converted barns and waterside apartments. The one to five star ratings on these properties reflect the level of quality you can expect, properties with higher ratings also have to meet additional requirements for facilities.

Camping and Caravan Sites and Holiday Parks, whether you bring your own tent, camper or caravan, or choose to hire a caravan or chalet. The star ratings show the quality of Sites and Parks ranging from one star/ pennant for acceptable quality to 5 stars/ pennants for exceptional quality.

Local agencies carry out inspections for hotels, guest houses, B&B, self catering, caravan and camping sites. Please note they do not give a 'grading'.

Advance booking is recommended at all times. Please quote this site when making your booking by telephone or post.

We hope that you will have an enjoyable stay in our area but should you have cause to complain about any aspect of your holiday please advise the Proprietor or Manager of your accommodation without delay. If you subsequently feel that your complaint has not been dealt with to your satisfaction, please put your complaint in writing to the appropriate Inspecting Agency.   Contact addresses are available from the local Tourist Information Centres (see further information pages).

Please Note: As of December 2004 the Cornwall Tourist Board Inspections will no longer be valid and all Cornwall Tourist Board advertisers will be required to have a nationally recognised inspection by the AA or ETC. This means that from December 2004 we will be unable to accept responsibility for previous inspections. At the time of going to print advertisers displaying the CTB logo held a current inspection certificate and met the criteria required to become a member.
