2nd - Free Guided Nightjar Walk, National Trust/RSPB - 8.30pm - 10.30pm. The National Trust and the RSPB invite you to share an evening with one of Penwith's most enigmatic birds, the nightjar, on a stroll around Carn Galva. The walk will be led by Paul St Pierre, Conservation Officer for the RSPB and Joe Oliver, Area Warden for the National Trust. Meet at the Carn Galva car park, Zennor. Treen cliffs on the south coast of West Penwith provides one of the most incredible views of Logan Rock in the area. Looking out towards the calmest of seas, you have Porthcurno, one of Cornwall's best beaches to the west and Penberth, a tiny working fishing village to the east. The guide on this walk will be the warden for the area who has worked here for many years and has a great wealth of knowledge to share. Another opportunity to see what is being done here to conserve the local area and habitats. Well behaved dogs are welcome on the walks. 19th - 20th - No Pro Surf Classic - now in its 15th year this is an event for surfers who are not yet sponsored. Traditionally the event is held at Gwithian although in extreme conditions it can be moved to a more sheltered beach. It provides a showcase for up and coming and undiscovered sportsmen and can be used as a springboard to the more serious National and 'Pro-Am' level of competition.
