BOATING & FISHING
There are plenty of opportunities to 'Get Afloat' from St. Ives Harbour. Various craft sail each day to Seal Island where you can observe the grey Atlantic seals at play or rest, even see sunfish and dolphins on the way. This trip past the Tate Gallery, Porthmeor Beach and along the beautiful coast will take about 1 hour 20 minutes.
One of the popular craft is the 'Dolly Pentreath', a traditional Cornish Fishing Lugger. Other local boats offer Fishing Trips, 'spinning' for mackeral.
There are Pleasure Craft for Hire on fine weather days when you can meander around St. Ives bay at your leisure.
St. Ives Freshwater Angling Society
Woonsmith Lake, Woonsmith Farm, Nancledra
Ten years ago a group of keen fishermen and conservationists discovered a disused clay pit on a farm. Today it is one of the most beautiful lakes in the country, stocked with Roach, Perch, Carp, Bream, Tench, Rudd, Gudgeon and Eels. It is also suitable for disabled persons with purpose built platforms and ramps. In springtime the rhododendrons are spectacular.
Day tickets are available from the farm: £5.00 adults £2.50 juniors
